Today at 5pm, I have finally arrived in Milano. The Cisalpino Pendolino was only 18 minutes late which, I guess, is a good start… After figuring out how to get from Milano Centrale to Milano Lambrate with the Metro, I went to Politecnico and met with Marco Brambilla and Alessandro Campi. We started to fill in some forms that are part of the bureaucracy needed to get me a key, a phone line and an Internet connection at the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione (DEI). I also had a quick look at the office where I will have my desk: Room 103 at Via Ponzio 34/5! Later I walked to Residenza Falciola where I checked into flat 612 and unpacked my stuff in one of the two rooms. At the moment, I am the only occupant of the flat but I hope I will get a nice flatmate sooner or later. I am not yet sure if Falciola is where I want to stay for the whole year but as my life currently fits into two wheely bags, I can move quickly when a better opportunity presents itself! There is no WiFi at the Residenza so I bought an access point across the steet in MediaWorld (which is Italian for MediaMarkt). I also did some shopping and food. Now the fridge is filled with RedBull and I have Ovomaltine to cure the home sickness I get from watching “Die Direktorin” on the SF Web site.
